Who is a typical Chicago in Shape client?Jim has extensive experience working with clients of all ages and fitness levels, from complete beginner to conditioned athlete. He's trained clients in every decade of life from teens to nineties. Some clients come in with specific goals, like getting in shape for a wedding, travel, or sports (tennis, biking, etc.). Many clients know it's easier to stick with a fitness program when you have an exercise coach you'll be seeing every week. Some clients are referred by a doctor, while others come on their own, just wanting to be more active, fit, and toned. In short, Jim enjoys working with all his clients!

What should I know about my first visit?First, we will go over your health screening form (sent to you in advance) together to better understand your current status and ensure there is nothing that would prohibit you from starting your exercise program. Then, I will do a general field assessment to evaluate your balance, eye-hand coordination, flexibility, and general and core strength, as well as a visual posture analysis. This helps me design an exercise program that's customized for you, whether you need challenging, advanced workouts, a senior fitness program, or something in between. Please dress appropriately for exercise. There is a place to change if you are arriving in street clothes. Kindly do not wear street shoes in the training area! Please bring clean, "indoor" fitness shoes with you. You are welcome to leave a pair of training shoes at the studio! Filtered water and towels are provided. You are encouraged to ask questions and to share any relevant information that would affect the design of a safe and effective training program.
